Clark Expected To Be Named As New NFFC Chairman

Frank Clark is set to be announced as the successor to Nigel Doughty as chairman of NFFC. Doughty stood down from his role last week, in the aftermath of manager Steve McClaren's resignation.

Clark is currently Vice President of the League Managers' Association and is a widely respected figure throughout the game. He's expected to maintain his role with the LMA whilst working for NFFC.

The first job for Clark, will be to appoint a new manager for the club and a decision on that front is expected early this week.

Clark will be a popular choice amongst fans and will be fondly remembered for a successful period as manager of the Reds', between 1993-1996. He won promotion back to the FA Carling Premiership in his first season, followed by third place and qualification for the UEFA Cup the following year. He was also a member of the European Cup winning team in 1979.

Any more news on this? I see from the latest poll that Billy is still the number one choice, even ahead of MON. Rest of the contenders have almost no votes. Why is Mardy Keane in third? Only good if you throw money at him. Funny how Cotteril and MacDonald weren't even on the radar when this poll started. Time to get things decided boys. We've got a league to win (!!)

Frank Clarke as chairman is a good choice and an impressively quick and clean decision (assuming it's true - believe it when I see the formal announcement by the club). Now for the manager. I see the usually well-informed Skybet has Steve Cotterill as evens favourite. Compared to Pompey, Forest will be like Real Madrid. Sooner him than Roy Keane, Billy Davies, Nigel Clough, Phil Brown and Dave Jones.
