Cotterill - Fans Can Play Big Part In Survival Bid

Nottingham Forest head into a crucial weekend in their fight against relegation, knowing that a win at home against fellow strugglers Bristol City on Saturday and a decent result at Peterborough on Monday, will all but guarantee their Championship status next season.

The game at home to Bristol City on Saturday will be live on Sky TV (KO:5.20pm) and is being billed as the proverbial six pointer. A win for the Reds' will see them 9 points clear of City, with only 5 games left to play.

Cotterill has urged fans to play their part and get behind the team. Speaking to the NEP, he said. 'Fans' backing is massive. But I have said that since I walked through the door, how important the fans would be. At one of my first press conferences, I said that I would not be able to get the job done if the fans were not with us. If the crowd can be as good as they were against Brighton, it will be a good recipe for this weekend. If everyone is in a positive mood, that is what happens. When there is negativity, it breeds fear, which can transmit itself to the players.'
