'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Vital Forest Fan Interview: Kev Edwards

Q - How long have you been following Forest and what was your first game?

36 Years. A 0-2 defeat at home to West Brom in Div 2, Boxing Day 1975.

Q - What are your most memorable moments as a Forest fan? Good and Bad.

The Good - I was a bit too young at the time to appreciate the enormity of winning the League and then the European Cup twice, but Cloughie`s whole reign was magic - even when we weren`t winning anything we had some great (and very positive!) teams. Recently, I really enjoyed the promotion day against Yeovil - just the excitement of the way it turned out. Oh and the 5-2 against the sheep wasn`t bad either.

The Bad - Losing the FA Cup Final to Spurs as I always wanted to see Cloughie and Forest win it. The Megson era…..dreadful.

Q - Since you have been following Forest, what would your best starting eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?

Peter Shilton (GK), Viv Anderson (RB), Des Walker (CB), Chris Fairclough (CB), Psycho (LB and Captain), Martin O`Neill (RM), Steve Hodge (CM), Roy Keane (CM), John Robertson (LM), Trevor Francis (CF) and Stan Collymore (CF). Brian Rice would have to be Sub in case we ever drew Arsenal away in the cup!

Psycho, Psycho, Psycho.

Q- In your opinion, what is the best goal you have seen Forest score?

That`s tough. Any Jonny Metgod free-kick or Stan Collymore goal would be up there. But for a great counter attacking 'team` move, I think I`d go for Brian Rice`s lob over John Lukic at Arsenal in the FA Cup 6th Round in 1988. 11,000 Reds going mental…..ohh yesshh.

Q - Best and worst away ground visited?

A full Wembley in the days of the terraces takes some beating, though I suppose that`s neutral rather than away, so Best - St James` Park ….or should that be the Sports Direct Arena.com? Worst - Luton.

Q - Which player(s) would you like to see us sign this summer (realistically)?

Adlene Guedioura.

Q - All seater stadia. Good thing, or a bad thing?

Overall a good thing, though the atmosphere`s not as good (unless you`re the away team). Look how good the atmosphere was at Peterboro last season.

Q - What are your thoughts on how Forest did last season and how did it compare to your expectations?

Relief! Obviously I didn`t expect it to be as bad as that, though having looked doomed around January the end result was OK.

Q - What are your expectations for next season in the Championship/Where will we finish?

Depends on whether the ownership issue is sorted. As things stand I can`t see anything but another struggle at the wrong end of the league. 21st or above will do!

Q - With the introduction of Financial Fair Play coming soon, do you think NFFC should spend their way to promotion, or adopt a more frugal approach in trying to achieve it?

Frugal - Norwich and Swansea have shown it can be done it and can`t be any worse than where spending has got us.

Q - Name a former Forest player you were most disappointed to see sign for another club?

Stan Collymore, closely followed by Peter Davenport.

Q - What's your opinion on Steve Cotterill and will he bring success to the club

Genuine guy, but out of his depth…..and no, I don`t think he will.

Q - New stadium, or renovate the City Ground

Renovate. The City Ground`s got too much history and I still get that tingle when I`m walking over Trent Bridge - even in the summer! I`m not sure I`d want to go if we moved to a flat-packed, out of town ground on an industrial estate.

Q - If you could give one piece of advice to the eventual new owners of NFFC, what would it be

Get the fans back on side and feeling like they`re part of 'their` club again. We get great support, but the bond between the club and a lot of its fans has been lost.

Q - Where do you sit/stand at the City Ground?

Brian Clough Upper.

Q - Name the celebrity you would most like to meet.

Ian Wright.
