The Vital Forest Fan Interview: RedSmedDownUnder

The Vital Forest Fan Interview: RedSmedDownUnder

Q - How long have you been following Forest and what was your first game?

A - Since about 1969, the era of Ian Storey-Moore, and Henry Newton. First game was a home loss 0-1 to Man Citeh. Mike Doyle got their winner.

Q - What are your most memorable moments as a Forest fan? Good and Bad.

.A - Good has to be two European Cup triumphs. The League Championship was up there, and that save from Shilts at Coventry was amongst the best I`ve ever seen!

Bad - well relegation to League 1 wasn`t our finest hour!! Going to Wembley, on my 30th Birthday, to see us get dicked by Spuds in the Cup Final took some swallowing. Thanks to Milford the prancing pillock

Q - Since you have been following Forest, what would your best starting eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?

A - Shilton - Anderson, Walker, Burns, Pearce - O`Neill, Keane, A Gemmill, Robertson - Francis, Collymore. Subs: van Breukelen, Todd, Hodge, Birtles, Clough.

Favourite player has to be Shilton. I was a keeper way back when, even had a trial at Forest in 75, I`d have paid admission just to watch Shilton. Pearce and Robbo deserve a mention too. Club Legends all three!

Q - In your opinion, what is the best goal you have seen Forest score?

A - So many to pick!!! ISMs 85 yard dribble past every Arsenal player on the pitch would be in there. Numerous Robbo, Metgod, Magoo, and Psycho net bulging free kicks come to mind. Raddi at the Hawthorns. SVC at Old Trafford. For importance Trevor Francis v Malmo, and Robbos beauty v Hamburg were both Top Drawer!

Q - Best and worst away ground visited?

A - Been a long time now, not been back since 93, so much has changed. Plough Lane was quite simply a sh*t tip!!! The best back then?? Probably Old Trafford, and for atmosphere the Baseball Ground!

Q- Which player(s) would you like to see us sign this summer (realistically).

A - Gued, Elokobi, Cunningham, and Lynch!

Q - All seater stadia. Good thing, or a bad thing?

A - Good in terms of comfort. But I still prefer terracing for the unique atmosphere!

Q - What are your thoughts on how Forest did last season and how did it compare to your expectations?

A - Absolute shocker of a season!! It didn`t even reach 0.0000000001% of my expectations!

Q - What are your expectations for next season in the Championship/Where will we finish?

A - Difficult to answer this one! At this moment in time I`d say bottom half, just above the relegation zone....fingers crossed

Q - With the introduction of Financial Fair Play coming soon, do you think NFFC should spend their way to promotion, or adopt a more frugal approach in trying to achieve it

A - Clearly we are not about to adopt the former anytime soon!! As the club stands I don`t believe they have any ambition to reach the PL. We had our best chance two seasons ago, and the powers that be blew it!

Q - Name a former Forest player you were most disappointed to see sign for another club?

A - I was gutted when Shilton left. Even more so when he turned up at the Baseball Ground!

Q - What's your opinion on Steve Cotterill and will he bring success to the club?

A - Decent bloke. With backing I think he can keep us at a mid table kind of level. Not sure he has what it takes to get us up. But since Marthur doesn`t have that ambition it doesn`t really matter!

Q - New stadium, or renovate the City Ground

A - Build a new Main (Peter Taylor) Stand, sort that hideous roof out on the Bridgford Stand, and stay put. It`s a unique location, and you can`t beat the feeling of walking over Trent Bridge as the CG comes into view. A soulless bowl I do not want!

Q - If you could give one piece of advice to the eventual new owners of NFFC, what would it be?

A - Get shut of Marthur for a start!

Q - Where do you sit/stand at the City Ground?

A - When I was young on the old Trent End. Later on I had a ST in the Main Stand. Now I sit like a sad b*stard in front of my PC into the wee hours trying to find live streams, or following the Beebs text

Q - Name the celebrity you would most like to meet.

A - Lara Bingle...she`s a stunner!

Here`s to a surprisingly great season!!! RSDU.
