A Point To Prove

SCOTT Dobie vowed today to prove himself a success at Nottingham Forest after returning from injury in spectacular fashion.

The striker scored two goals in a 20-minute appearance for Nottingham Forest reserves at Shrewsbury yesterday - his first action since undergoing pioneering hip surgery in America.

Dobie said: 'Ever since I signed at Forest I haven't really proven the player that I am. I feel I've still got a lot more to prove at the club.

'Since I came, we got relegated from the Championship and I played ten games, scoring one goal, which is the longest I've ever gone without scoring. I've got a point to prove to the chairman, the fans, the people who showed faith to bring me to the club.'

Dobie has endured a turbulent time since his 525,000 move from Millwall last February.

A persistent hip problem limited him to only six appearances last season - his last coming in the draw at Blackpool in February.

But after his treatment at the Steadman Clinic in the US, Dobie is determined to rebuild his Forest career and help fire the Reds back to the Championship.

'I wouldn't be training and working as hard as I have been if I didn't think I was capable of doing it,' he said.

'If I didn't think I was capable I wouldn't bother. I'd go and see the chairman and be honest and say I think I'm finished.'

Dobie came on for the last 20 minutes of an impressive Forest performance at Shrewsbury.

They ran out 6-0 winners at Gay Meadow, with all the goals coming in the second half.

Forest reserve team manager Ian McParland said: 'It was good to see Scott back and scoring.

'He's hardly played in the last year so he will be worked back slowly.'
