Calderwood: Lets Keep The Run Going

Colin Calderwood's side will be looking for their FIFTH straight win in League One, which would be their best opening run since 1891.

The Reds won seven back-to-back games at the start of the 1891/92 season, in the Football Alliance, under club secretary/manager Harry Radford.

Forest have already equalled the run of four consecutive wins they managed in the 1997/98 season - which ended in promotion to the Premiership.

Calderwood says the Reds will not get carried away, particularly following their Carling Cup exit at the hands of Accrington. But he believes Forest can send out a positive message to the rest of League One, if they can extend their run.

'It is nice to keep that kind of run going,' he said. 'Four wins from four at any stage of the season can make a dramatic difference to any team, in terms of their league position. And when it comes at the start of the season, it is highlighted a bit more.

'Four wins has got us to where we are, but the question is whether you can put a run together that goes beyond that.

'There are plenty of people in this league who will be capable of winning three games in a row, definitely. And four is achievable by lots of teams.

'The real difference will be those that can make it five, six or seven wins on the bounce.

'That will send out a strong message.

'This is a difficult game, anything we get out of it will have to be worked for.

'But the chance to get five wins in a row does not come around very often.'

Calderwood is likely to restore Julian Bennett, Nicky Southall, Grant Holt and Jack Lester to the starting line-up, after resting them at Accrington.
