The Vital Forest Fan Interview: Nathan Lee

The Vital Forest Fan Interview: Nathan Lee

Q - How long have you been following Forest and what was your first game?

I`ve been following the boys since I was 6, so 24 years.

Q - What are your most memorable moments as a Forest fan? Good and Bad.

Most memorable for me has to be seeing Chris Bart-Williams turn on a sixpence in the last minute against Reading to give us a 1-0 win, and basically secure promotion back to the Premiership. Worst moment would be witnessing our defeat to Yeovil in the second leg of the play-off. It took me a good 3 months to get over that one.

Q - Since you have been following Forest, what would your best starting eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?

GK Crossley, CB Cooper, CB Walker, LB Pearce, RB Bonlair, CM Keane, CM Haaland, CM Clough, CF Collymore, CF Sheringham, CF Van Hooijdonk. Favorite player is easy……Stuart Pearce!

Q - In your opinion, what is the best goal you have seen Forest score?

I`ve seen many quality goals over the years, but the one that stands out is the Lewis McGugan free kick against Ipswich.

Q - Best and worst away ground visited?

Best would be St James Park, Worst would the Valley Parade.

Q- Which player(s) would you like to see us sign this summer (realistically)?

I think we all saw what Guedioura had to offer so he would be top of the list, and with the out of contract players the defense looks like it will need bolstering somewhat.

Q - All seater stadia. Good thing, or a bad thing?

I think they are a good thing. It`s definitely the way forward in terms of progressing a club.

Q - What are your thoughts on how Forest did last season and how did it compare to your expectations?

My expectations were to make the Play-offs so to see us struggle like we did was a big surprise, especially when you think we pretty much had the same core of players that had performed so well the previous 2 seasons. In the end I was extremely happy with survival.

Q - What are your expectations for next season in the Championship/Where will we finish?

My expectations as a fan are always high, but being realistic with the current financial situation and all the is talk of being taken over by Kuwaitis, I thing it`s hard to make a fair prediction, but I will go with how things stand right now and say we will finish somewhere around 12-14th position.

Q- With the introduction of Financial Fair Play coming soon, do you think NFFC should spend their way to promotion, or adopt a more frugal approach in trying to achieve it?

I think a mixture of the two would be nice. We have seen clubs like Norwich and Swansea prove it can be done by being smart in the transfer market, but then it`s always nice if you have funds readily available to bring in a quality player.

Q - Name a former Forest player you were most disappointed to see sign for another club?

Kris Commons when he went to D**by was tough to take. Though he is now a Judas, he was undoubtedly a quality player.

Q - What's your opinion on Steve Cotterill and will he bring success to the club?

Not a Steve Cotterill fan I`m afraid. Wasn`t his biggest fan before he came, but you have to give the man a chance, needless to say some of his team selections and negative tactics have had me screaming at the laptop. This said his job was to keep us up in the end, so I will give credit when credit is due.

Q - New stadium, or renovate the City Ground?

Do up the Main Stand and then ask me again in 10 years.

Q - If you could give one piece of advice to the eventual new owners of NFFC, what would it be?

Listen to the fans. We are the heartbeat of the club and that has been one of the biggest downfalls over the past decade if you ask me from previous owners. Spend smart and keep the club at heart.

Q - Where do you sit/stand at the City Ground?

Well I used to have a season ticket in the B block main stand, but I now live in America I only get to about 4 games a year, so when I come over for games I just sit wherever family and friends are sitting.

Q - Name the celebrity you would most like to meet.

Keith Lemon…..I don`t get to see many shows from back home now days but I always youtube Celebrity Juice and the man never fails.

I hope this gets a published, as I think it's always nice to hear from Forest fans from around the world. You do a great job with this site, so keep up the good work.

Well, it did get published Nathan and many thanks for taking the time out to do it. If you would like to take part in the Vital Forest Fan Interviews, then you can find a copy of the questions here. Just email your answers to forest@vitalfootball.co.uk and we will publish them on the front page.
