The Vital Forest Fan Interview: Andrew Lieber

The Vital Forest Fan Interview: Andrew Lieber

Q - How long have you been following Forest and what was your first game?

I`ve been a Forest fan since I first became aware of them at the age of 4. My Dad was good mates with Duncan McKenzie and I remember him coming round to the house. I am told he took me to training sessions at Forest on a few occasions although sadly I have no recollection of this. We moved to SA when I was 5, so the first game I remember "listening" too was the 1979 European Final on BBC World Service with my Dad. The first game I actually went to was in 1987 v West Ham.

Q - What are your most memorable moments as a Forest fan? Good and Bad.

European Cup in 1979 and 1980, particularly the Trevor Francis goal. The Jonny Metgod screamer against West Ham. The Paul Gascoigne tackle in the FA Cup final. Man Utd 8 - Forest 1 (the last time I flew over for a Forest game).

Q - Since you have been following Forest, what would your best starting eleven be? And who is your all time favourite player?

1.Shilton 2.Anderson 3.Pearce 4.Walker
5.Burns 6.McGovern 7.McKenzie 8.Webb 9.Collymore 10.Clough 11.Robertson.

There can be only one? Stuart Pearce, he represented all that was good in a footballer.

Q - In your opinion, what is the best goal you have seen Forest score?

Johnny Metgod v West Ham.

Q - Best and worst away ground visited?

Live in SA so have only watched Forest at the CG.

Q- Which player(s) would you like to see us sign this summer (realistically)?

I`d like the T/O to be completed first so I know how much money they have.

Q - All seater stadia. Good thing, or a bad thing?

Good thing.

Q - What are your thoughts on how Forest did last season and how did it compare to your expectations?

Q - What are your expectations for next season in the Championship/Where will we finish?

With a new owner - Promotion.

Q- With the introduction of Financial Fair Play coming soon, do you think NFFC should spend their way to promotion, or adopt a more frugal approach in trying to achieve it?

Get out while you can, spend, spend, spend.

Q - Name a former Forest player you were most disappointed to see sign for another club?

Stan Collymore. It could have turned out so differently. His sale was a turning point.

Q - What's your opinion on Steve Cotterill and will he bring success to the club?

I think he has done a fantastic job and deserves another crack at it.

Q - New stadium, or renovate the City Ground?

New Stadium, no question about it. You have to keep moving forward and the current facilities are simply not up to it.

Q - If you could give one piece of advice to the eventual new owners of NFFC, what would it be?

Sack MArthur.

Q - Where do you sit/stand at the City Ground?

On the few occasions that I have been, in the Main Stand (not the shed). I did go to the terraces once and did not enjoy it at all. The whole time I was a little concerned that someone would take my shoes and send me off to go and get some Bovril.

Q - Name the celebrity you would most like to meet.

Kylie Minogue.
