Paladini Linked With Al-Hasawi Takeover At NFFC

Rumours of the potential Kuwaiti takeover of Nottingham Forest, by the Al-Hawasi family have been doing the rounds for several weeks now, as has the name of controversial former QPR chairman Gianni Paladini.

It was confirmed yesterday that Messrs Fawaz, Abdulaziz and Omar Al-Hasawi, were behind a bid to take control at the City Ground. Whilst other names are thought to be included in a consortium to buy the club, none have as yet been officially announced.

When rumours first surfaced about Fawaz Al-Hasawi buying NFFC, Gianni Paladini was also mentioned as someone also rumoured to be involved with the bid. At the time, it was reported that he was charged with bringing Leeds United manager Neil Warnock to the City Ground as the replacement for current boss Steve Cotterill. Paladini's links with Warnock's former club QPR, made the rumour all the more plausible.

It turns out today, that if Paladini is connected in some way to the Al-Hasawi bid, he may have landed the Reds' in hot water with the Football League, for alleged illegal tapping up.

A report in todays' Evening Post, claims that Peterborough United 'could' be reporting Nottingham Forest to the Football League, for the illegal tapping up of their manager, Darren Fergusson. The paper says Paladini was working on behalf of the Al-Hasawi family and that he had been in contact with Fergusson about becoming the new manager at the City Ground. Also, according to the Post, Nottingham Forest were given assurances that Paladini was not connected with the Al-Hasawi bid to takeover the club.
