'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ferguson Denies Interest In Forest Job

Following the alleged 'tapping up ' claims made by Peterborough United over the weekend, Posh manager Darren Ferguson has said he is very happy at the club and is looking forward to meeting up with his players on Monday, when pre season training begins.

News emerged on Sunday, that former QPR chairman Gianni Paladini, had made an approach to Ferguson to become the next manager at the City Ground. It was intimated that Paladini was working on behalf of potential new owners of NFFC, the Al_Hasawi brothers in Kuwait. Although not confirmed in any official capacity, it has been widely reported that Paladini is connected with the takeover at the City Ground.

Steve Cotterill is still the manager at the City Ground of course and he is said to be fuming, over the alleged approach. He himself may see fit to go to the LMA over the matter and take their advice. Cotterill still has two and a half years remaining on his contract with the Reds' and would be looking for every penny of that in compensation, should any of this be proved.

Threats of Peterborough United reporting NFFC to the Football League for illegal tapping up, have so far proved to be unsubstantiated and even if Peterborough did report the club, they surely don't have a leg to stand on?

Even if Paladini did make some sort of approach to Ferguson, he is in no way connected with NFFC and most definitely is not on the payroll of the club. He is not and would not have been working on behalf of NFFC. That in itself, should make it an open and shut case for the Reds'. Whether it puts another black mark next to Paladini's name, is another matter.

In fairness to PUFC, they have neither confirmed or denied that they are going to report Forest to the Football League for any involvement in this and manager Ferguson has been quick to distance himself from any desire to take Paladini up on his supposed offer. Speaking to the Peterborough Telegraph, Ferguson said. "I am very happy at the football club. We are back for pre-season training on Monday and I and the rest of my staff are looking forward to the new season.'
