'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It's A No From Redknapp - Hoddle Now Hot Favourite

At lunchtime today, former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp was hotly tipped by the bookies, to be the next manager in charge of Forest. Since then, 'Arry has ruled himself out, by saying something along the lines of thanks, but no thanks.

Matt Denney is the Account Executive at Performance PR Ltd and he's given us the low down on the way the betting markets have fluctuated throughout the day. He said. 'Darren Ferguson was the bookmakers firm favourite to take over from the departing Steve Cotterill as manager of Nottingham Forest and leading odds comparison site Oddschecker.com can reveal, that odds on Sir Alex`s son had plummeted dramatically since the post became vacant this morning.

Ferguson was priced up at 6/1 by Sky Bet and Ladbrokes as soon as the news broke, but is now a best priced evens after a surge of backing from the punters.

The former Peterborough and Preston North End boss was linked with the job last October before Cotterill took charge and was as long as 40/1 with Bet365 in November to be Forest`s next permanent manager after Cotterill.

Ex-Spurs manager Harry Redknapp was as short as 5/2 earlier in the day but has now gone out to 18/1 after announcing he`s not interested in the role. Mick McCarthy and Roy Keane are other names in the frame as well as Nigel Clough who is a best priced 25/1 to follow in his fathers footsteps and take the reigns at the City Ground.'

In the past few hours, the odds on former England manager Glenn Hoddle have shortened dramatically and at the time of writing he is Evens favourite to take the job. Former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is also in the running and has for a long time been rumoured to be the man the new owners want.

Special thanks to Matt Denney, for sumarising the days events from the bookies perspective. You can follow Matt on twitter.

Hoddle would be a great appointment. His cultured passing style, and his extensive experience spotting and developing young talent from his academy. Got stitched up by the tabloids, but now older and wiser. Just what we need.
Husky Red
Would be thrilled if it was Hoddle. A long term deal to build some "DNA" back into the club. Agree with Husky he's had a bad press but even his England team managed to play good football.
