Welcome Home John Pemberton

Former Forest Caretaker Manager and Reserve team boss John Pemberton has made a welcome return to the City Ground, after resigning from his position as Academy Manager at Sheffield United.

He joined the Blades in 2010 and last year guided the Youth team to the FA Youth Cup Final. It's believed he resigned on Friday and will rejoin NFFC as part of Sean O'Driscoll's backroom staff.

John Pemberton was a popular figure at the City Ground, prior to his sacking/leaving by mutual consent back in 2009. Following the sacking of Colin Calderwood, Pemberton took temporary charge of first team affairs and guided the team to consecutive victories over Norwich City (2-3) and at Manchester City in the FA Cup (0-3).

Following his dismissal from NFFC, Pemberton joined a then struggling Crystal Palace as an assistant to another popular Forest boss Paul Hart. His first visit back to the City Ground saw him and Billy Davies in a touchline altercation, with Davies claiming afterwards that Pemberton refused to shake his hand.

Pemberton's time at Forest will be best remembered for his time developing the reserves and young players. As well as winning the Central League title with the Reserves, they lost only 3 games in two seasons. Welcome home John Pemberton.

Surely, surely he's best remembered for managing a 3-0 victory at the Etihad in the FA Cup against Sparky's Citeh? Best away day ever!!
