'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Junior To Make Holt Agogo

Reds manager Colin Calderwood believes the £125,000 hit man will have an inspirational effect on all the strikers at the City Ground - but particularly Holt.

Holt's five goals have powered Forest's climb to the top of League One this season.

But Calderwood is convinced he can get more from the 25-year-old - and Agogo is the man to do it.

'It helps that we've got Junior,' he said. ' It gives added competition and won't allow anyone to become complacent.

'That's vitally important for the likes of Grant Holt to drive him on.

'If you asked him, I think he thinks he can improve and so do I.'

Agogo and Holt started their first game alongside each other in Saturday's goalless draw with Carlisle.

Holt missed a penalty but Calderwood remains delighted with his influence on the pitch.

He has established himself as the manager's first choice ahead of the likes of Jack Lester, Neil Harris, the returning Scott Dobie and Agogo.

Holt said: 'Junior is a good player, strong, he likes to work in behind and score goals.

'Competition in the squad is what we need. I want to play, but the main aim is to win the league.'
