Calderwood: Why Bennet did not start

Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood has admitted Julian Bennett did not start against Swansea as he could not risk losing another defender.

The 21-year-old would have been suspended for Saturday's match at the City Ground if he had picked up his fifth booking of the season against the Swans.

And with Junior Agogo and Sammy Clingan already ruled out of the game due to international commitments, Calderwood was not prepared to lose another key player.

He told the club's official website: 'We knew we would be without Sammy and Junior for the Scunthorpe game and that's why Julian didn't start against Swansea.

'If he had been booked, he wouldn't have played this weekend and we couldn't run that risk.'

And he will now go and get a yellow card tomorrow which will mean he is suspended anyway. Still clever though.
