'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gordon Bennett ! - Jules Blames Refs

Julian Bennett today vowed not to change his determined approach to defending, but admitted: 'I get a rough ride from referees.'

Bennett is set to be restored to Forest's starting line-up as they face Scunthorpe tomorrow live on Sky TV.

Manager Colin Calderwood left the Nottingham-born player on the bench last weekend, to avoid the risk of him being banned, at a time when he is already without Sammy Clingan and Junior Agogo who are on international duty.

Bennett understands Calderwood's decision - but feels he has been given a hard time by referees, who have already shown him four yellow cards. 'I am not going to change; that is the way I play,' he said. 'I am all about tackling and being physical.

'That doesn't mean I foul all the time. I don't agree that I deserve some of the bookings I have had.'

Calderwood confirmed he had been nervous about Bennett being suspended.

'It was the sole reason he was left out,' he said.

'Julian is a bit impetuous, but a lot of it is his willingness to get the ball. He is the reason why we look strong.

The number of tackles he gets booked for are minimal compared to the ones he competes for and wins.'
