'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Calderwood: 'More To Come' From Kris

Colin Calderwood today warned the rest of League One: 'We are still to see the best from Kris Commons'.

The Forest midfielder has been in good form since he made his return from ankle and knee injuries.

But, while Calderwood has been impressed with Commons' contribution so far - which has seen him provide three assists and score three goals in eight appearances - the Reds boss believes the 23-year-old is only going to get stronger.

'He has played very well,' said Calderwood. 'But I still think there is more and more to come from him.

'Obviously the more time he spends on the pitch, the sharper he will get.

'He is already having an influence and I think he has still got an improvement to come, in terms of his fitness and his contribution to the team.

'He is only really starting his season now. There should be a freshness about him.'

Calderwood says Forest will continue to monitor Commons' exposure to first-team football, as the former Stoke man eases his way back to full fitness.

'I think I have seen him fade in one or two games, but we have been able to take him off,' he said.

'But I would not say we have managed it really, it has just been that we have been in a position to take him off when we have had to.

'We will see him staying on the pitch longer, but how he performs in games will decide that.

'But there is more to come from him, which is good for us.'
