'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Yeading Captain Set For Forest Game

FORMER Arsenal trainee Richard Goddard is set to be handed the captaincy for Yeading's glamour tie with Nottingham Forest.

The 28-year old will be a direct replacement for suspended skipper Nevin Saroya and is keen to take his chance with both hands.

He said: 'When you train twice a week and play at our standard you always want to try and test yourself, play the best teams possible - if you didn't you wouldn't be playing the game.

'We play football to reach these standards, play against these teams and the FA Cup just adds that bit of magic to everything.

'We know if we cause an upset we'll make big news, that's a lot of pressure on them but it's great for us.

'They'll obviously be better than us on paper, they'll be fitter, stronger and their strikers should be more clinical in front of goal.

'When the match kicks off we're on the same pitch and it's eleven against eleven, we're on a level playing field so anything can happen.'

Goddard insists Yeading aren't just visiting the City Ground to make up the numbers.

He said: 'We'll be keeping our fingers crossed. It's the FA Cup and that's the beauty, I couldn't tell you what will happen but we'll be giving it a right good go.

'Nobody wants to be thrashed and if it's 1-0 or 6-0 to them it won't matter if we've put all our efforts in and done our best.

'Forest are a famous club with tradition but for one reason or another things haven't been going for them, they are top of League One now though and they'll feel fortunes are changing for them.

'It's up to us to ruin that hope and it's not a dream to think we can't.'
