Rumour Mill In Full Swing.

In recent weeks we have been linked with every player that has ever kicked a ball. Here are just a few. Jarvis, Cohen, Lockwood, Sparrow, Sharp, Taylor, Chambers, Bircham, McCombe, Windass, Hoskins, Dailly,Hayter and most recently former player David Prutton, at the bargain price of £500,000.

Calderwood has done his best to pour cold water on the Prutton rumour by telling the NEP, 'I know there are one or two stories in the national press, but that is to be expected at this time of year,' he said. 'There is nothing in it.

'It is pantomime season after all and I don't think this will be the last speculation about us.

'I suppose it is good that we are being talked about - but David Prutton will not be coming.' Very true words from the gaffer, but they will do nothing to stop the speculation.

Every fan will have their own opinion on who we should sign and it does appear the club is actively seeking new talent. Until January arrives though, it will be open season for the rumour mongers. No doubt before now and the end of January we will have the usual 'we're signing Harewood' rubbish and maybe even a cheeky 'we're getting Shearer out of retirement' rumour.

It will become very tiresome, but we will all be watching and looking out for the next one. It's just a case of sifting through them and working out which ones are complete tosh. One thing is for sure, it looks as though the revolving doors at the City Ground could be very busy in the coming weeks, both inwards and outwards.
