'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Forest KO Addicks In Style

Forest answered their critics in emphatic style at the City Ground today, as they swept aside Premiership strugglers Charlton Athletic.

In what has been a difficult week for the Reds', that has seen them criticised for their on and off the pitch activities, they turned in a performance that saw them control the game for the whole 90 mins.

Colin Calderwood had to reshuffle his pack due to suspensions to Danny Cullip and Sammy Clingan. John Thompson was also missing due to being cup tied. This meant the manager had to revert to a 4-4-2 formation, something the fans have been calling for all season. With Morgan and Bennett being recalled in defence, Tyson was put on the left of midfield, where he terrorised the Addicks defence all afternoon. Holt and Agogo led from the front.

The Reds' took the lead on 28 mins, with an Agogo strike. Four mins later Grant Holt doubled the lead with a header from a Southall cross.

Whilst promotion from League 1 is the clubs priority, a good run in the FA Cup would bring in some extra cash that could be put to good use, such as paying up the contracts of unwanted players.

A crowd of 19,017, saw Forest enter the hat for the 4th round draw on Monday, 1.30pm. I don't care who we get, it's just nice to be in it.

From what I saw of this game the match will be replayed next season in the league.

Good result, hopefully this will stop the slump we've been in recently. As Calderwood has said, this result will mean nothing if we don't get promotion. Up the Reddds.

We played like a side full of confidence which surprised me after the Oldham debacle to be honest. Wwe didn't miss Clingan, Commons or Culip one bit either. Lets just hope we are not on the tele in the 4th round!

It's strange how following such dismal league form you lot can go and completely outplay premiership opposition. Shows that you should definately not be written off for the league.
