'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dobie Hails Forest Stars

Scott Dobie believes Nottingham Forest's young stars have showed they have Premiership potential.

The Reds striker (pictured) challenged his younger team-mates to show they had what it takes to play at a higher level, when they took on top flight Charlton last weekend.

And they more than answered him with outstanding performances against Alan Pardew's Premiership strugglers.

The likes of Nathan Tyson, Grant Holt and James Perch starred in the 2-0 win to suggest they may yet make it to the top flight.

And they have impressed Dobie, who has first-hand experience of the Premiership from his time at West Brom, throughout the season so far.

He said: 'It was good to see Nathan and Holty doing well against opposition like that.

'I knew Nathan was quick, but he looked even quicker. Perchy as well. I knew he had a bit of speed, but he looked rapid. I think the lads got an extra lift.

'There was pace all over the pitch, which is vital, particularly at a higher level.

'I don't know if it's because we played against better opposition, but it seemed to give everyone a lift.'

Dobie believes the victory was crucial after Forest's struggles over the past month, which has seen them fall out of the automatic promotion places for the first time this season.

Now he hopes the morale-boosting win will kick-start their promotion challenge, resuming today, when they host Yeovil at the City Ground.

Dobie said: 'It can give us a lift after a difficult month.

'We are keyed up for every game, but it was the first time in a while we have been the underdog and the lads stepped up to that challenge.'
