'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mullarkey's Back In The Game

Sam Mullarkey spent six years at Nottingham Forest - but is now fully concentrated on scoring goals for Lincoln United.

The 19-year-old striker was released by the City Ground-based club at the end of last season and spent some time out of the game before United boss John Wilkinson allowed him to train with his squad.

Mullarkey impressed, working his way up through the reserve team before making his full first-team debut against Mossley, on Saturday.

'It was good to be in the thick of first-team action again,' said Mullarkey.

'I enjoyed the game against Mossley and was voted man of the match.

'I was at Forest from the age of 12 and progressed to the reserve team during my final season there. But things didn't work out.

'John Wilkinson gave me the opportunity to get back in to regular football and I am grateful for that.

'Getting match fit can be difficult and it has taken a while.

'But I'm there now and fully enjoying it.'

However, Wilkinson knows he may have problems holding on to Mullarkey.

'If Sam plays regular football here, I'm not sure how long he will stay - I'm sure other clubs will be interested,' he said.
