Commons Set For New Deal?

Nottingham Forest hope to persuade Kris Commons to commit his future to the club - now the 'busy' period of the transfer window is done and dusted.

Manager Colin Calderwood says talks are continuing with the highly-rated play-maker, whose contract expires in the summer.

He revealed that Forest have made what they consider to be a good offer to the former Stoke player - and hope that he will sign a new deal soon.

'He knows where we stand,' said Calderwood. 'It is an ongoing thing, there is no problem. It remains an amicable situation.

'We have made an offer, we have shown it is our intention to keep him and we just stay in talks at the minute. I would imagine, once we are into February it will be more transparent what is happening.'

Commons has been out for the past month with a hamstring problem but could return tomorrow at Bradford.

Several other senior players are out of contract in the summer as well, most notably John Curtis, John Thompson, Jack Lester and Rune Pedersen. Offers have been made to some players but they have not yet been named.

Hmmm, tough one this! He will sign if we go up and leave if we don't. There is no way he will sign before the summer.
