Sean O'Driscoll was last night unceremoniuosly and brutally sacked from his role as manager of NFFC. The sacking came as something of a surprise, following the 4-2 home win over Leeds United.
O'Driscoll's appointment back in July was the first major addition at the club following the successful takeover by the Al-Hasawi family. It heralded a new era for the club, with the new owners stating their ambitions were to return the club to the Premier League.
It appears that Sean O'Driscoll has paid a very heavy price for rebuilding the squad and has not truly been given the time required to complete the job. At the time of his sacking, Forest sit in 8th place in the Championship table, just 1 point from a Playoff place.
Chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi said via the official site. 'He can count himself unlucky to have lost his job with the team just one point away from the top six.'
This sacking leaves a rather sour taste in the mouth, at least it does with me. I would hope the new owners have a suitable replacement lined up and that whoever he is, he's allowed the necessary time to do the job. Thankyou Sean O'Driscoll. You are indeed an unlucky man.
