McLeish - We didn't deserve to lose the game 3-0

Forest began the New Year with a resounding 3-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers. Ruben Rochina opened the scoring with a deflected goal just after half time. Jordan Rhodes then doubled the hosts lead midway through the half and Colin Kazim-Richards put the game beyond reach, making it 3-0 after 78 minutes.

It was the first defeat for new boss Alex McLeish, who made 4 changes to the team that played so well and earned a draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday. McLeish told the official site that he thought the result was a bit harsh on his side. 'I couldn't see that coming at half-time - we were okay and were well in the game. We didn't deserve to lose the game 3-0, there`s no question of that. Their first goal was a complete fluke with the ricochet that completely caught Lee Camp off his line. We threw the dice by throwing big Dexter Blackstock on and going with three strikers but sometimes it doesn't work for you - a minute after he came on we lost the second goal. That flattened the guys a little, although they worked hard right to the death. We know that ultimately we've let ourselves and the fans down but I felt that 3-0 was a bit harsh on us.'

The result saw Forest drop to 11th place in the Championship table, 3 points away from a Playoff place. There was some good news to come from his post match comments, in that he said he hopes to be doing some business now that the transfer window has reopened.
