Nottingham Forest are expected to make an improved bid for Birmingham City winger Chris Burke.
The 29 year old has five months to run on his current deal at St. Andrews and City boss Lee Clark has been told he has to cut costs at the West Midlands club.
It was reported last week that Forest had a £300,000 bid for Burke turned down, but the Reds' are now expected to renew their efforts to land the Scottish international. Forest boss Alex McLeish told the Evening Post yesterday that he was looking to strengthen his squad with a goalkeeper, winger and a striker before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
Burke would provide the pace that has been so lacking from the Forest squad this season and he would be an excellent addition to the ranks if McLeish can get his man. City will obviously be holding out for as much as they can get, but if Forest can come up with a decent enough bid, they'll find it difficult to turn an improved offer down.
