Alex Set To Turn The Tide In Future Derby Games

Nottingham Forest boss Alex McLeish was heartened by another improved performance from his players, following the 1-1 draw with bitter rivals Derby County at Pride Park yesterday.

McLeish was delighted with the display and commitment shown by the players, but disappointed to have given away a 1-0 lead. Chris Cohen put the Reds' deservedly ahead with a first half strike, but a second half equaliser from Jamie Ward rescued a point for the Rams.

Before going into this game, Forest had lost the previous 3 encounters against the Sheep and were facing the possibility of them doing the double over us for the second successive year. Forest were looking good for the win yesterday, until an uncharacteristic error from Simon Gillett gifted the Rams their goal.

Despite failing to take all 3 points, manager Alex McLeish has pledged to turn round the Reds' fortunes in future when it comes to games against the Sheep. McLeish told the Evening Post. 'Forest have not had the best run of form against Derby in recent years, but I am here to change that.' I wish I'd heard him say that prior to the game. I might not have been so nervous.
