Davies The Red Hot Favourite

Billy Davies could be set for a dramatic return to the City Ground, with various media sources and journalists saying a deal is all but done for the fiery Scott to return as manager of Nottingham Forest.

Following the departure of Alex McLeish on Tuesday, Davies' name was immediately linked with the role, where he has raced to the front of the betting markets and is now odds on favourite to return to the club.

Davies was controversially sacked from his role at the City Ground in 2011 and hasn't worked since. Four managers have come and gone since his departure and he's been linked with a return as each one has left.

This time round, the stories of his return, look to have some substance, with even the BBC saying he is expected to be unveiled as the new boss within the next 48 hours. Davies had been in talks with Championship rivals Blackpool earlier this week and was expected to take over there, but reports today suggest he has declined the opportunity to join the Seasiders, in favour of a return to the Reds'.

Meanwhile Rob Kelly has been named as Caretaker boss and will take charge of team affairs for the weekend game at Bristol City. The official site has also confirmed that Peter Grant and Dr Ian McGuinness, who were appointed to the coaching staff by Alex McLeish, have also left their roles.
