Davies Takes Promotion Form Into Final Game

Nottingham Forest will go into their final game of the Championship season on Saturday against local rivals Leicester City at the City Ground, safe in the knowledge that they are in their best form of the season. Following the crucial 1-0 away win at Millwall on Saturday, the Reds' sit level on points with 6th placed Bolton, with boss Billy Davies stating that since his return, the team have amassed an average points per game total of 1.85 points.

According to Davies, that 1.85 points per game average would mean a return of 85 points over the season and that is automatic promotion form. Speaking to the BBC's Late Kick Off programme, Davies said. 'I have to say we came at a late stage, at this club, and many people prophesied that we would need a win here, at Millwall, to avoid relegation. After this game, over the course of our matches, we have a points average of 1.85 points per game. If you took that over the course of the season, that is automatic promotion winning form.'

Davies also heaped praise on chairman and owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi and said he hoped the team could reach the Playoffs for him. 'I am proud of the players, I am proud of the team and I am delighted for Fawaz. He is was obviously very nervous and is very going into the final game. But I am delighted for him, because he has put a lot into this club. We now hope we can get three points and get into the Playoffs'
