Eric Joseph Lichaj - Profile

Nottingham Forest have today announced their first new summer signing in Eric Lichaj, signing a 2 year deal. We would like to welcome him to the club & here we take a look at his career to date and what to expect from him.

Lichaj started his professional career in his native Illinois with Chicago Fire making 4 appearances before moving to the UK with Aston Villa in 2008. The versatile defender has won plaudits from the fans of not only Aston Villa where he made over 40 appearances (including 23 in all competitions last season) but also on loan at Lincoln, Leyton Orient & Leeds where he`s made a further 31 appearances.

He has made appearances for the U.S.A National team while also representing his Country at under 17 and under 20 level. Fortunately he holds a Polish passport meaning a work permit wont be necessary.

Lichaj is a right footed full back, more confident on the right hand side of defence & has been referred to as an all action player who possesses a great long throw though but can occasionally be caught out of position, a trait that Billy Davies will no doubt help him eradicate from his game.

Though his defensive game is much stronger than his attacking traits, this is exactly the kind of signing Forest are needing. Young, strong & talented with top flight experience and a very bright future ahead of him.

All indications show Lichaj is a likable young man, a full blooded heart on your sleeve player and while his goals will be a rarity, his goal celebrations will be worth keeping an eye on.

Good player. Didn't often play on the right for us where he should have been but always worked hard and looked a decent player. He was unlucky lambert uncovered Lowton the boy wonder otherwise I think we wouldn't have let him go.

Best of luck Eric from another Villa fan. Sorry to see you go, but at your age you need to be playing regularly. Given a run in the Forest team he will become a top player.
