Match report from kids corner, Forest v Yeovil, 2nd of February 2014.
Only 3 days after the last home game against Watford, Forest faced a struggling Yeovil side that sat rock bottom of the Championship but the small side from Somerset have proven to be a banana skin for Forest before!
However on the upside Danny Fox made his debut, Rafik Djebbour started on the bench and Ed Upson, the player who scored twice against the Reds earlier in the season, left in January. Alright then here we go.
Forest kicked off the match and straight away it looked like it was going to be a very big win as Forest got early chances but none of them were good enough to get the early goal that Forest wanted.
Then after a fantastic pass from Lansbury, Jamie Paterson ran onto the ball and slotted the ball under the keeper, it may or may not have been going in but Webster made sure it did when he miss hit the ball into his own net, 1-0 get in!
For the next 10 minutes Forest were flat and very nearly conceded when Hayter had his shot saved by Darlow. Shortly after a poor clearance, a cross was fired in and the Yeovil centre forward, Moore headed home 1-1, could this be another shock result?
Forest had, had some of the stuffing knocked out of them with that goal but there was still some minor chances which proves how bad Yeovil actually were!
In the 38th minute Paterson fired in a low shot that was palmed away out wide, where Mackie was waiting to cross the ball back to Simon Cox who put the ball in an unguarded net, 2-1 you beauty!
The last chance of the half fell to Jamie Mackie after a poor backpass but the angle was tight and he fired into the side netting, 2-1 half time.
A below standard performance so far from Forest but still... they were still winning. Rafik Djebbour came out to train at half time and was cheered and clapped as he got on the City Ground pitch.
As the teams came back out the fans piled back into their seats ready for what looked like it was going to be a goal filled second half.
Yeovil started the half still looking like they were a weak League One team coming up for a cup game. More chances for Forest in the first 15 minutes of the second half through Lansbury and Reid but they were either blocked or saved by Stech, there was one chance for Yeovil after a neat one two but the shot was straight at Darlow.
Forest kept possession but they couldn't find any real opportunities, but then after a clever pass from Andy Reid, Jamie Paterson beat the keeper but the ball hit the post and was cleared away before anyone could turn in the rebound.
Just after that Forest made their last sub bringing on Rafik Djebbour for his first game for the Reds. 'Stand up if you love Fawaz!' - was the chant all the way around the ground to which most of the ground stood up!
As the game reached it's dying embers, Yeovil kept piling on the pressure but none of their players got any clear cut chances and Forest defended well.
Right at the death Forest countered up the field and when a cross fell to Simon Cox at the back post, he hit the ball on the volley which smashed against the post but came back across the goal and the debutant Djebbour headed the ball into the empty goal. 'Rafik Djebbour, Rafik Djebbour, give him the ball, and he will score, Rafik Djebbour!' 3-1 game over!
The full time whistle blew with the Forest fans still chanting the name of Rafik Djebbour.
Forest were not up to their best standards but it's always a good sign when you don't play well and win, 13 games unbeaten!
Thanks for reading, Bash9.
