Forest v Wednesday: Match Report From Kid's Corner

Forest v Wednesday: Match Report From Kid's Corner

Match Report From Kid`s Corner, Forest v Sheffield Wednesday, Tuesday 8th April 2014.

Only 3 days after another awful performance on Saturday, The Reds come up against another team in the relegation battle. The Tricky Trees were looking for their first win in 11 but they aren't looking like challenging anybody at the moment! Wilson back out of the 18 again but Lansbury gets his first start since his injury and finally Gary Brazil puts two strikers on. Alright then here we go.

From the start Forest were showing signs of improvement from Saturday and soon enough early chances were being made. Then, calamity strikes .... Maguire broke into the box and was debatably fouled by Danny Collins, penalty. Maguire stepped up and put the ball right into the corner past the diving Darlow, 0-1!

Unlike the game against Millwall, the players tried to get back into the game and a few minutes later, Mackie had the ball in the net but the flag was, once again debatably, raised.

A massive penalty claim was made when a cross went into the box and was deliberately handballed, how the ref or lino couldn't see that I don't know? Forest made another chance through Paterson but it was weak.

In the 43rd minute, a great cross from Paterson found the on running Mackie who headed home, 1-1 come one. However in injury time, an in swinging ball was bundled into the net by Buxton despite Darlow's appeals for a push, 1-2 - Half time.

Poor officials again, lots of poor decisions made by the officials none of them in Forest's favour! Jara again not having a good game, The Reds needing to come out all guns blazing.

Only one of the two teams came out of the dressing rooms from half time raring to go and that team wasn't Forest. The Reds had the first chance of the half through Lansbury but his shot was wide.

In the 56th minute, Mattock received a short corner and the Forest players allowed him too much time, from which he beat Darlow at his near post, 1-3, no play offs! The Forest defence seemed to get worse and worse and were lucky not to be 4 or 5-1 down after Leon Best missed two unmarked headers!

Another bad decision by the ref, Peltier went past a Wednesday defender in the box and was body checked unfairly but the ref didn't give it.

Finally, The Reds luck began to change when, in the 77th minute, Mackie won the ball back and delivered a great ball in for Tudgay to head home, 2-3, game on!

Two minutes later Collins stupidly fouled a Wednesday player and received his second yellow, Off! Somehow, The Reds seemed to get better from then on and in the 87th minute, a freekick was won around 25 yards out and with Lansbury off, Paterson would be the one to take it. He jogged up to the ball and bent it round the wall and into the top corner, 3-3, amazing. It looked like the game was over and they were going to settle for a draw but Paterson wanted another and his late effort deflected just wide. Full time.

Play offs are a real long shot now but that Forest side showed real character. A bad performance from a couple of players but the real awful performances were from the officials! 10th place and still no win in 11, but while-ever there is a chance, hopefully the side will keep fighting.

Thanks for reading, Bash9.
