After a week on the Algarve, Stuart Pearce and his Nottingham Forest squad will be preparing for the final game of their European training camp against Rio Ave on Saturday.
After twice falling behind against Porto B, on Wednesday evening, Forest eventually ran out 3-2 winners. Henri Lansbury playing in an attacking central midfield position, equalised just before half time with a quality free kick.
Loose marking from a 2nd half corner saw Porto B regain the lead, before Forest's new signing, Lars Veldwijk netted his first for the club, via a poachers finish, to again level the scores.
Stephen McLaughlin's neat run and finish earned Forest the spoils, but whilst it's nice to win, pre-season is all about fitness and conditioning ahead of the Championship kicking off in just under 3 weeks.
The friendly against the Portuguese Premier League side should prove a much sterner test. Incidentally, for any Forest fans making the trip the game against Rio Ave, the game will kick off at 6pm and will now take place at The Fao Stadium.
The Forest squad return to the UK after the game, before then preparing for the next friendly against Championship new boys, Rotherham, on Wednesday, 23rd July. The game at the New York stadium kicks off at 7-30pm, with tickets still available.
