City Leaprog Forest

Bristol City moved above Nottingham Forest and into the automatic promotion places in League One last night with a convincing 3-1 win at relegation-threatened Chesterfield.

That was enough to move the Robins two points clear of Forest - with a game in hand.

A first-half blitz was enough to secure the points and although Chesterfield improved after the break, the game was already up.

City got off to a flyer, taking the lead in the eighth minute when defender Richard Keogh volleyed in from ten yards after Andy Smith had knocked the ball back across goal.

Lee Johnson put his side further in front in the 35th minute when a corner was headed out to the midfielder who smashed a low shot in from the edge of the area.

The picture became even bleaker for Chesterfield on the stroke of half time when another counter-attack ended with David Noble sweeping the ball into the top right-hand corner.

Chesterfield switched their formation in the second half and looked a better side and veteran striker Wayne Allison scored against one of his former clubs from close range in the 59th minute.
