Forest's Transfer Hopes Fade

Nottingham Forest are not giving up hope on signing Birmingham midfielder Neil Danns on loan - but it looks increasingly likely he won't be coming to the City Ground.

Manager Colin Calderwood today again expressed his frustration over the role of players' agents in transfers.

He admitted he had continued to chase Danns since first attempting to land the former Colchester player in the January transfer window.

'We have made an inquiry, but what the agent is doing is wrong,' he said.

'When we spoke to Birmingham in January the player did not want to come. We left it there, but made a couple of phone calls to keep up to date with the position, to see if anything has changed, as he is not in the team.

'But it is wrong for his agent to be speculating. He is just trying to put his player in the shop window.'

Calderwood admitted Forest have been pursuing several players as they attempt to bolster their squad for the League One run-in.

A £650,000 bid for Gillingham's Matty Jarvis was also scuppered by an agent, after the winger was advised to stay put until the summer - despite Forest's League One rivals being willing to do business rather than run the risk of a transfer tribunal in the summer.

'We have made a lot of inquiries, but we have not been able to progress anything,' said Calderwood.

Surely there's one or two other players out there somewhere. Get on the phone have a ring around!

The problem is, the City Ground is no longer the lucrative prospect it once was.

We should have been more active pre season. The club totally lacks ambition, just as we did pre-Cloughie, when the then Committee was happy with a small time, nice club image. I don't blame CC, the malaise goes back to before Doughty arrived, and has spread like a cancer through the club. There needs to be a clean sweep throughout the club, from top to bottom. The club needs people in place who share the supporters passion, to get back to something like we used to be. If the Sheep up the road can get their **** together then so can we.........Come On You REDSSS!!!!
