EFL Approve Nottingham Forest Takeover

EFL Approve Nottingham Forest Takeover

The Football League have this afternoon approved Evangelos Marinakis' takeover of Nottingham Forest.

The BBC have just published a report confirming that the deal has now been passed by the EFL this afternoon after the Greek businessman and Olympiakos owner passed the Owners' and Directors' tests.

The sale of the club brings to an end Fawaz Al Hasawi's five year spell in charge and fans will no doubt be hoping that there are better times ahead and far fewer troubling stories in the media about missing out on deadlines and being embargoed.

With accusations about our new owner in Greece, clearly that didn't figure in the EFL's tests which looked at the business plan in place for the club and the BBC also report they asked UEFA for their views and received a positive response, so plenty of fans will take heart in that whilst others will no doubt point to the EFL's tests for owners is hardly perfect.

Manager Mark Warburton was speaking about guarantees he'd received from the now new owners only a few days ago - Click Here.

In an interview with the BBC's Richard Conway, Marinakis spoke about his vision for Nottingham Forest in the future and the key points were.

To return 'stability' to a club with 'huge potential' which 'belongs to the elite of the Premier League'

Will not make rash pledges, saying 'I never give promises - I deliver'

Backs Mark Warburton and says he will work within EFL financial rules to support him in the transfer market

Will formulate a 'fans advisory body' and 'youth council' with a representative attending board meetings

Promises ticket price reductions to reward fan loyalty
