Warburton Praises Training Return

Warburton Praises Training Return

Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton has praised the work of the backroom staff as we gear up for the new season ahead.

Having already added former Hibernian striker Jason Cummings to the group, Warburton said he's keen to push on with plans this summer but now we have the early pre season hardwork to put in with testing and the like for the players.

Speaking to the Official Forest Site the gaffer explained that he was pleased with how things were progressing and he admitted that sometimes fans probably don't appreciate what goes into a club behind the scenes, as sometimes plans don't come off but that doesn't mean you haven't spent days or weeks on something.

'A lot of work has gone on and sometimes you don`t see the fruits of the labour too early. The work going on behind the scenes has been tireless by Frank McParland and his team; Frank has been in every single day during the summer and we have had great support from the new owners. These deals take time, they can be complicated and I hope we can have another four or so players coming in but we will see how things progress.'

Warburton went on to say.

'I have been delighted by the support we have been given by the new owners. The quality of contact and communication has been outstanding and you can see the work being done at The City Ground and the training ground and it gives everyone a boost. Our job is to now feed off that support and keep pushing the club forward.'

Having added Cummings to the line up, he said the Scottish striker would be relishing the challenge of getting himself in the starting line up.

'Jason has come here to play. He is well aware of the competition but Jason has come here to play football and I love that desire. He recognises the challenge that lies ahead but wants to prove himself. He has come down, the boys have taken to him and he has shown his quality on and off the pitch and I am looking forward to seeing how he develops in the weeks and months ahead.'

Moving onto our pre season return, he explained that having come back last week he'd been very impressed with the players' conditioning and the way they threw themselves into their work.

'The players returned last week and I am delighted with them in terms of their condition and the way they applied themselves during the off-season. Their condition has allowed us to accelerate the programme by a day or so, so I am delighted with their work ethic. The sports science guys and the medical team really control the players at this early stage to get the data we need in terms of where they are right now at their base levels, and we control the loading. It means that by the time we go to the US the boys are in a position to work hard and maximise the away trip. So far it has gone very well and I am delighted with their application; we have been increasing the loading day-by-day and they have responded well but there is plenty of work ahead of us.'

Heading out to America for a training camp next week, Warburton was looking forward to the facilities at the IMG Academy and he knew we could take plenty out of the trip as the big kick off edges nearer.

'There are many reasons for going to the venue; obviously it is a world-class facility, the gymnasiums are outstanding, the hotel is as well, the food is good for the players and the challenging heat will test them. We can give the boys different environments. Very often on pre-season trips they sit there and know what is coming. They know they are going to work hard and lie on a bed and wait for the next batch of work. From our point of view, we want to give them a different environment and I took Brentford there at the start of 2014-15 which worked really well so hopefully we can replicate the success of that trip.'
