Lester Leaves Forest For Chesterfield

Lester Leaves Forest For Chesterfield

Nottingham Forest have today confirmed that Jack Lester has left the club to take up the position as manager at Chesterfield.

Academy manager Gary Brazil has said that he leaves with the clubs' full blessing for the next step in his career and he knows it's a good opportunity for Lester to continue his own development in the world of coaching.

Speaking to the Official Forest Site to announce his departure, Brazil explained.

'This is a wonderful opportunity for Jack who I know is keen to step into a first-team management role. I know this has been a difficult decision for him as he has a strong affiliation with Forest. However, we both feel this is an ideal opportunity for him to make the step up and on behalf of everyone at the Club I would like to wish him the best of luck in his new role.'

With Lester playing close to 200 games in two spells with Forest, since hanging up his boots he has managed both the Under 18 and Under 23 sides at Forest, and in acknowledging how good the club has been to him over the years, he knew it was an opportunity he couldn't pass up.

'It is a Club that has played a big part in my life. As a player I had some amazing times here and more recently as a coach it has been one of the most rewarding jobs I have been in, working in the academy and bringing players through. It is a lot more rewarding than you think it would be. Seeing players in the first team is just as special as when you played in it yourself. It has been fantastic and a wonderful part of my life which has been a great apprenticeship for what I am going on to do.'

He added.

'I would like to thank Gary Brazil and all the staff in the academy for what has been an unforgettable experience. There are great people working throughout the academy and I've enjoyed growing our relationship over the years. I wish the Club all the best and I would like to thank the Club for everything they have given me.'
