Karanka Refreshed & Ready For Forest

Karanka Refreshed & Ready For Forest

New Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka has said his break from football has left him feeling refreshed and after a period of reflection he's now ready to get the job done at the City Ground.

Having been appointed earlier in the week Karanka's first game in charge is Aston Villa this weekend and speaking to the
Nottingham Post the Spaniard believed his break had served him well.

Reflecting on his time at the Riverside Stadium, he explained.

'I had three really good seasons at Middlesbrough, but it all went by really quickly and I needed time to realise just how much I had learned, to think about everything I had done well and the things that I didn`t do so well. To learn from my mistakes, to travel, to gain things from other coaches around the world and refresh my mind. That period of reflection has now come to an end. I think this is the best league in the world, and I would like to stay here a long time.'

Karanka went on to say that he feels he has scope at Forest to really build and develop a project in the years ahead.

'Now I feel refreshed, with a very clear idea of what I want and how I want to move forward in my managerial career. I want to develop a good project. I feel everything is in place in my mind and that I have the confidence after this period of reflection. Now I am ready for a new challenge.'

The new boss took training for the first time today and he'll be properly introduced to the media tomorrow but we already have links to former players Grant Leadbitter, Adam Clayton and Daniel Ayala but we'll have to see if anything comes of that speculation as he looks to stamp his own mark quickly on the side.
