3 Weaknesses In Birmingham That Forest Must Capitalise On

3 Weaknesses In Birmingham That Forest Must Capitalise On

After an excellent victory last week, we`ll be heading into the match against the Blues tomorrow on a high, and Aitor Karanka`s men couldn`t have picked a better time to face them with the relegation strugglers coming off the back of four straight defeats, without scoring a goal.

Steve Cotterill is under massive pressure following a run of results that was started by a defeat in the second city derby to Aston Villa, and it doesn`t look like ending any time sign after a poor home defeat to fellow relegation threatened Barnsley.

After being let off the shackles with our five goals against QPR, we should be in excellent shape for scoring a few more this weekend. So where can we hit our opponents where it hurts?

1) The weak centre

Marc Roberts has been very poor for Birmingham over the last month, and his partnership in the centre of defence with Harlee Dean has seen them concede ten goals in their last four matches.

Defensive stalwart Michael Morrison has been tipped to return to the defence for the game at the City Ground, but he hasn`t played in the league since Boxing Day, and the club captain will no doubt be pretty rusty.

2) Left back troubles

The absence of Jonathan Grounds due to injury has meant that Cotterill has had to chop and change the left back in recent weeks. Arsenal loanee Cohen Bramall does not have the experience, and was part of the team that were thumped 5-0 by Brentford.

Maxime Colin, who is usually a right back has been filling in, but it`s not ideal with Carl Jenkinson, who has only recently returned from a dislocated shoulder, being selected on the right hand side.

The likes of Matty Cash and Joe Lolley should have a lot of joy on both flanks tomorrow.

3) Room to exploit in the middle

Maikel Kieftenbeld`s return to the fold after a two match suspension could shore things up, but even with the Dutchman playing in the middle of the park, they have lacked defensive solidity.

Craig Gardner and Cheikh N`Doye have been poor this season, and the way Lee Tomlin is performing currently, he should cause a lot of trouble if he is picked to play in the no.10 role tomorrow.
