Forest Pull Off Lennon Coup

The Reds managed to beat the pulling power of Aston Villa, Sunderland and Leicester City a the race to get the midfielders' signature. The 35 year old has signed a one year deal, with the option of a further year.

Lennon is just the sort of no nonsense player the club needs. It's fair to say he would find it tough in the Premiership, but his vast experience at international level for Scotland and Champions League with Celtic should be more than a match for League 1.

Celtic paid £5.75M for him in 2000 and in 2005 he became club captain. Lennon helped the Bhoys to 5 League titles, 4 Scottish Cup wins and 3 Scottish League Cup wins. He was also a UEFA Cup Runner Up.

This is the first in what is hoped will be a series of new signings for the Reds. God knows we need them, but what a start.

great coup forest but at no point were Villa remotely interested in Lennon. bizarre

No, I take the Micky Mouse out of Villa from time to time but Lenny was never linked with a move there. Sunderland, Wycombe, Gretna, for sure, but never Villa. MON would have had a riot on his hands in the Holte End if he signed a 36-year-old!

how's signing Lennon something to cheer about?
Bud
Well, if Lennon wasn't asked to sign then Mark Chapman might not have shot him.

Villa interested in Lennon? Yes, about ten years ago.
Saurat
According to every major newspaper in the land Villa were interested in signing Lennon. Are you Villa fans trying to say the national media tell porkies?......wash yer mouths out.
guinless
good move i think, one year deal too so we can see if he proves himself.
Forest1986
Sorry guys, not a chance that Lennon was a target for Villa. He'll do great for you but MON would not have taken him at his age for the Premiership. Hope he gets you lot up next season though, Forest don't below in the lower leagues.
The Fear
Good sign for you guys, a bit too old for my liking. But we Just got Spiller :P
