The 21 year old spent much of last season on loan spells with Macclesfield, Lincoln and Bradford City. Although Forest offered him a contract extension, he rejected this in favour of a two year deal with Notts. Bradford and Lincoln were also keen to sign him. Spencer clearly wants first team football and saw his chances at Forest as slim at best.
He would probably have been 5th choice striker behind Tyson, Holt, Agogo and Dobie, so a move was the best thing in his eyes. He told wwwnottscounty.co.uk that it was the stability of the club and the feeling of being wanted that was a big selling point to him.
Although he only scored one senior goal for the Reds, he notched up a total of eight whilst out on loan.
