Grant Pledges Future To Forest

Grant Holt today told the official site that he was happy to remain at Forest and that he was settled here, despite putting in a written transfer request at the end of the season.

The striker has held talks with manager Colin Calderwood on the clubs visit to Austria, to finally put to bed any rumours of a rift between the two. It had been reported earlier in the week that the two had reached agreement, but quotes attributed to both parties, were less than convincing.

Midway through the season a bid from Bristol City was accepted by the club, but Holt declined the move. Since then the player has been linked with a move back to his hometown club Carlisle, but his comments today would suggest his future certainly lies in Nottingham.

Holt told the club site. 'I'm at Forest to do a job. That's what I was signed for, that's what I enjoy doing and that's what I want to do.' He went on to say that the manager told him what he wanted to hear and felt wanted. The only thing that remains now, is whether the club will continue it's search for a fifth striker.

Grant Holt ended the season as the clubs top scoreer and was also named Player of the Year by the Supporters Clubs.

This one will run and run. Not sure that Grant has settled, more like we have realised that replacements are not forthcoming.
