Dobie - 'I Can Still Score Goals'

Scott Dobie is seen by many as a scapegoat for the current woes that befall this once great club. But in reality nothing could be further from the truth.

It is true that his goals per game ratio is best suited to a central defender who's spent most of the season out injured, but he is a player of great pedigree and a Scottish international no less. When he arrived from Millwall he was touted as the saviour of Nottingham Forest, but since he came he has been the subject of some terrible injuries.

Dobie has just recovered from a hip injury that was so bad, that most medics predicted it very unlikely that he would ever play again. He has proved them all wrong and must be applauded for even making it back onto a football pitch, let alone being a regular in the first team. In defiant tones he told the official site. 'I can still score goals. I've no doubts in my own ability, the doubt in my mind concerned whether my body could still do it.'

Towards the end of last season he was given a regular place in the team, albeit because of injuries to Tyson and Agogo and scored his first goal in 18 months during the Yeovil debacle. His pace is definitely improving with every game he plays, so a goal or two in the early stages of the season could see him produce the form he was once famed for. Dobies' contract expires next summer and he needs to deliver, not only to get a new deal, but also to get the critics off his back.
