No New Signings For Forest

The speculation throughout August was of Forest bringing in a new striker, but by the time the transfer deadline arrived, no one had signed for the Reds.

John Hartson and David McGoldrick were the hottest names to keep the rumour mill chuntering along. The Times newspaper even reported that Hartson had actually signed! But by the time the transfer window shut we had disappointingly made no signings at all.

The talk on the message boards has been of our need to sign a striker and Calderwood himself said earlier in the week that he was 'hopeful' of getting some new faces in by deadline day. Neill Danns was another hotly tipped to join, but it appears he has yet again turned us down. Why nothing materialised is anyone's guess, but Forest will now be left with only the option of making loan signings until the window opens again in January.

With the return to fitness of main strikers Agogo and Tyson it looks as though Forest will make do. But the recent spate of injuries has highlighted the lack of depth and cover we have in that position. The club has once again taken a risky strategy in not bringing in new blood, let's hope it works out, because a lot depends on these players delivering the goods. If Forest are not challenging by Christmas, then Calderwood will be under increasing pressure to hold on to his job.

Can't say I am too worried about this. We need the new players 2-3 weeks ago really and we are without a league game for 2 weeks giving us time to get players fit.

Disappointing, we could have done with a loan signing methinks
