Power - Shocked At Call up

Power only made his first team debut for the Reds a matter of weeks ago in the JPT game with Peterborough. But after leading the reserves to the Pontins League title with some impressive displays, he has caught the eye of Irish U21 coach Don Givens and gets his first call up at that level.

Ireland have games coming up against Sweden and England and Power hopes that he can force his way into the side. He told the official site . 'I wasn't expecting to get called up. Hopefully I'll get a chance against Sweden and cement a place in the side for the England game.'

The handsome Irishman is only 19 and is a product of the academy. Those who have seen him play regularly for the the reserves, say he is the real deal and has got a great future in the game. He is certainly knocking very loudly on the first team door at the moment, but may have to knock a lot louder to dislodge the likes of Clingan, Cohen, Lennon and Commons. He's definitely giving Calderwood something else to think about.
