Calderwood - We've Done Nothing Yet
Now that CC has assembled something of what he can call his own team, it would appear that he's more confident in their abilities and no longer feels the need to bull them up in an effort to get the best out of them. For most of CC's reign at the City Ground he's had to talk them up and over emphasise the team spirit and togetherness line. Now though, it seems there's a new sheriff in town and he calls a spade a spade.
Whilst the players and supporters alike have been a slapping each other on the back telling ourselves how great we are, Calderwood comes up with a timely reminder that so far we've achieved nothing.
He told the official site . 'What we have done so far is zilch in terms of this season, but we look as though we are an improving team and look as though we have the desire to get out of this division. That counts for nothing at this stage of the campaign. We've go to do it over a sustained period and show people across the country that we're a good side.' That quote is just about the most sense I've heard any Forest manager come out with in a good few years.
Whilst he hasn't exactly been scathing, it does suggest he wants to keep people's feet on the ground. He's right in saying there's room for improvement, there always is. But it does show that he's maybe less inclined to defend the indefensible as he did at times last year. Forest are an improving side, but as the man himself says, so far it counts for nothing. As long as they carry on as they are doing, they won't be far short come the end of the season.
