Taxi For Perch

If the latest transfer gossip in the Northern Echo newspaper is to be believed, then James Perch is set for a move to Sunderland. Apparently former Tricky Roy Keane is a big admirer of Mr. Versatile. So much so that he's preparing a bid in the region of £850,000.

First thoughts on reading this is 'hands off.' But at 850K it kinda makes you think. Now as we all know Perchio is a jack of all trades player, but as yet master of none. He is capable of playing anywhere in defence as well as midfield. So he is at least worthy of his Mr. Versatile tag.

At one time last season I had him down as player of the year. But by the end of the campaign I had him on my list of players to be shown the door. Some may call that a little harsh, but his previous good form back then had dipped considerably come the run in. So far this season he has been a bit part player and has been unable to command a regular first team place.

I would be happy to keep Perchio at the City Ground as he is good backup without a doubt and can cover a variety of roles. But at £850,000, I think we should book that taxi for the Stadium of Light before Keano changes his mind.

I can't believe this is true, why wait until he is injured and out of form?
