The last appearance for the Reds at Kenilworth Road, saw them put in their worst performance of the season. Forest are a much improved side from the one that lost 2-1 that day and Grant Holt is out to show the Hatters exactly that.
He told the Nottingham Evening Post. 'We have got to go to Luton and put in a decent performance. We have got to show that we are a better team than we showed last time, when we were well beaten. We need to show the rest of the league that we can beat any team in this division -and to get the big prize at the end of it. If we go there and get a win, it will show we can do it and shake off that last performance. If we beat them, when they come up here for the next league game, they will not be thinking about their victory over us at their place any more, they will be thinking that we knocked them out of the cup. That is what we want.'
This could be a case of yet another player shooting his mouth off before a big game, but you can't help thinking that this year Forest do indeed mean what they say in these articles. For once it seems that we may have a team that can go out and avenge a previous poor performance in the right way. That said Luton will be up for this game as well, just as much as the Reds.
The prize for the victors is a home tie in the third round against the red Scouse of Liverpool. KO tonight is 7.45pm.
