Bennett Signs Up Until 2010

Julian Bennett capped off a great week for himself by signing a new two and a half year contract that will keep him at the City Ground until 2010.

He scored in his comeback game in midweek against WBA reserves, after being sidelined for 8 games with a hamstring injury. He was in the squad for the win over Orient on Saturday but was an unused substitute.

Bennett has rose to the challenge of fighting for his place this season, with some fine performances and has made the left back position his own.

When Matt Lockwood arrived from Orient in the summer, many thought it was curtains for the crowd favourite. But he has improved his game this season and has wore the shirt with pride and has his place on merit. It's great news for him and supporters as well.
