'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It's The Uriah Rennie Show

The appointments for the midweek game at The New Den, for Millwall v Forest have been announced and supporters may or may not be delighted to know, Uriah Rennie gets the gig.

Mr. Rennie hails from South Yorkshire and is on the Premiership list of referees. Apart from being the first black referee to rise to the top of his profession, he was up until 2005 on the FIFA list, but retired at the compulsory age of 45. He will probably be best remembered for comments made about him in a game between Preston and Crystal Palace in 2005 when the stadium announcer welcomed the teams back onto the pitch at half time, with the line, 'Welcome to the second half of the Uriah Rennie show.'

Like all referees he's made his fair share of dodgy decisions. Mr. Rennie has even had his physical fitness questioned and was once forced to prove his fitness to retain his status as a full time ref, which he did successfully.

So far this season he's taken charge of 10 games, where he's dished out 24 yellow and 1 red card. The last time he took charge of a game involving the Reds was way back in 2004 against Reading. Forest ran out 1-0 winners at the City Ground and 5 players were booked.

He will be ably assisted on the lines by Mr. G. Beale and Mr. S. Beck. The 4th official is none other than Mr. Andy D'Urso. Lord help us.

Bet he'll love reffing at the New Den - hope he sends Harris off early, otherwise he's bound to score against us - like every other ex reds striker!
